A urologist is a medical doctor who specializes in conditions affecting the urinary tract and diseases affecting the reproductive system in men, women, and children. These conditions range from peeing too much or too little to being unable to have children.

If you need care for urinary problems, pelvic pain or sexual problems, your primary care provider may refer you to a specialist in these matters, a urologist. The urologist may order tests that will clarify the diagnosis and show the course of treatment. Some people may be shy to talk about urination, incontinence, or other problems with their "down", but those same people will probably be pleased to know that these conditions are very common and successful treatment is possible. It's important to be honest with healthcare professionals so they can help you get back to being healthy and enjoying life.
